Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in my work. My primary focus is the evolution of human consciousness. How I approach that has varied over the years, but the underlying guiding question has remained persistent.

How can I best be part of the expansion of human awareness?

I studied psychology, all the way through a PhD. That didn’t answer the question. I’ve been experimenting with various forms of meditation since I was 16. That’s getting me closer. I turned to ecotherapy, hypnotherapy, wilderness rites of passage and ritual. Some things are becoming more clear.

I learn the most about human consciousness, my own specifically, by being in communication with the beyond-human world. I grew up on dairy farm in northern England then a hill farm in southern Scotland. Now I run a forest farm with my partner Chris in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

In between the farming I experimented with technology. I co-founded and ran for 11 years a health-tech company. I’ve also run a non-profit working for community rights and climate justice.

I keep returning to the forest. Mostly now I write, walk in the woods, encourage mushrooms to grow, guide groups, tend grief and tell old Celtic stories.

The Forest Farmacy is the farm I run with my partner Chris. We grow mushrooms and offer forest farming classes alongside soul tending retreats.

The Rites of Passage Council is where I trained with my mentor Kedar Brown to guide wilderness rites of passage and rituals. I am a lead guide with them and run the Seasons of Womanhood program through them.

I currently head up the Grief Tending team at the Center for Conscious Living and Dying. I also tend fire here for those who are actively dying.
